The air cools down around me. Leaves fall in patterns while circling my ankles. It's Autumn and the water becomes darker and broods over the loss of summer.
The smell of wood fire is in the air at night and I bundle up against the cold. This beach community mourns the loss of the sea for the next four months and hunkers down for the oncoming winter.
The leaves start changing color, nothing like the intense colors I grew up with, but change nonetheless.
