Fractions
Life runs by in fractions of time
mini stories
cut up into sections.
Like a stop watch counting down
A trip to the beach,
We count down the in-between
Before the next is ready to play.
We balance moments upon
Moments and wait for
Them to keep growing taller
Or topple over.
We wish them to move faster
But when a moment topples
too fast
We wish to slow the stop watch.
And ask for our time back--
Maybe just a last smile, replayed.
Or the bad joke your father always tells.
You want to roll your eyes in jest again &
Hear the mock groaning
To the end of his joke
Even though the end is always the same
You want to hear it again anyway.
Just one last time, one fraction more.

Floating On The Wind
The clouds pulse with light
And flowers drip with water
The sky opens her veins
And they pour freely.
The gutters groan from overflow
The run-off soaks the ground.
I awake from a dream of Spring
To a Winter spun land
The ice webs its way across my window
Sleeping too close to the window,
My breath from last night
Slowly lifts its gloves from the pane
One finger at a time,
My breath fades away
Invisible,
Floating on the wind.
And flowers drip with water
The sky opens her veins
And they pour freely.
The gutters groan from overflow
The run-off soaks the ground.
I awake from a dream of Spring
To a Winter spun land
The ice webs its way across my window
Sleeping too close to the window,
My breath from last night
Slowly lifts its gloves from the pane
One finger at a time,
My breath fades away
Invisible,
Floating on the wind.
